Endorsements

I found… this piece by Robert Novak to be quite revealing. The interesting thing about this column is not necessarily Novak’s take on the big, “Liberal Money” connection between Specter and the Soros crowd, but George Bush’s endorsement of a RINO over an avowed conservative candidate, in the Republican primary.

“George W. Bush’s journey to Pittsburgh today to stand with Sen. Arlen Specter in the political battle of his life puts the president in unusual company. Specter’s supporters, as he faces conservative Rep. Pat Toomey’s challenge……”

I have to wonder what the “wunder kinder” are up to when I see GW and Karl Rove, thru Colorado governor Bill Owens, endorsing Pete Coors over conservative Bob Schaffer in the Colorado Republican senate primary. Even though Pete Coors seems to have solid conservative credentials, Bob Schaffers’ are unquestionable. For a much more in depth and erudite analysis of the Colorado senate race, check out this piece and this one by Ben of the RMA.

In light of Bush’s legislative accomplishments (No Child Left Behind, steel tarriffs, and faith based initiatives) and at the risk of being branded as a member of the “I saw Elvis” crowd, I have to wonder why Bush is not endorsing the more conservative candidates.

I’ll leave the speculation for the reasons about that to the real “tin foil hat brigade”……..
