Self Reliance

2 Corinthians 1:8-9
8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9 Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.
Have you ever been at a place in life where you felt that there was no hope? When you had expended all of your available energy….had run the string. All of the doors in your life had slammed shut with terrible finality. Have you, like Paul, even feared for life itself? Often, the Lord allows events in our lives to conspire in such a manner that we have no choice, just like Paul, but to rely on Him, and Him alone. God’s grace is always sufficient. It is in our weakness that he is most able to display His power and sufficiency.
Lord, help me to stay so close to you that when those terrible storms occur in life, I don’t depend upon self-reliance, but, immediately turn to you; my Hope, my Refuge, and Redeemer.
