Commentary Appropriate For Today’s Changing World

Christianity and Public Policy

Please read Phil’s posts here and here regarding the place of Christians at the table of public policy. It’s a must read for all Evangelicals that are concerned about Christianity in the arena of public policy.

Money quote:

The bottom line is, as I see it, is that while political power is important, it is not foundational to our success as Christian citizens. Christianity has survived despots, persecution, policy disadvantages, and debased cultures before.

I have no doubt that we need to advance on ALL fronts in this culture war. But we must understand that in the political arena that all we’ve gained is a seat at the table of public policy, not the throne. We won’t be successful in our society until we see that and act accordingly.

We must remember that as Christians, we are called to salt and light in a world that desperately needs Christ’s seasoning.
