Substitution

Hebrews 7
26 Such a high priest meets our need–one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
Taken in context, the writer of Hebrews is describing the sufficiecy of Christ as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. Christ was perfect in every way. As the writer says, He was holy, blameless, and pure. There was no need for Him to continually offer sacrifices. There was only one sacrifice necessary; and Christ offered Himself, the perfect sacrice lamb.
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my imperfection and your perfection. Thank you, that in your perfection, you realized that you were the only acceptable sacrifice for my sin. Jesus, I’m overwhelmed at the thought that you loved me enough to die for me….that you willingly suffered the punishment that I so justly deserve.
