Thank You

I’ve been here at the computer for the last hour trying to thing of something grand and awe-inspiring to write regarding this Memorial Day. I failed. The only two words I can come with are “thank you”
Thank you to those that:
Spent a lonely cold winter at Valley Forge…not knowing where the next meal would come from or what awaited them the next day.
Fought the forgotten war of 1812 in order to repel those that actually invaded our land.
Died at Gettysburg, Antietam, and Bull Run….in order to preserve a newly crafted union.
Went to Europe to fight the “war that would end all wars”……only to die in unknown places such as Belleau Wood and the Marne.
Died at Normandy, Monte Casino, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Okinawa….and that raised the flag on Iwo Jima.
Fought at Pork Chop Hill and braved enemy fire and the arctic winter of the Chosin Reservoir.
Went off to unknown places such as the Ia Drang Valley, Con Thien, and the hell that was Khe Sanh…..only to be forgotten by an ungrateful government and nation.
Climbed aboard their M1A1 tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles to end tyranny and bring freedom to the nations of Kuwait and Iraq.
To all of you I offer two simple, heartfelt words…Thank You

well said brother
