Commentary Appropriate For Today’s Changing World

“I’m Sick”, I Tell You, “Sick”

No, not sick with influenza, cholorea, or the plague….I’m sick of the politization of everything by the looney left. On the Gulf Coast, we have perhaps thousands of dead, untold billions in dollars of property damage, and an unimaginable amount of suffering and grief. Yet, the annointed left is intent upon getting in their licks at the administration. Robert F. Kennedy (yep, that Kennedy) beat all of his partners in crime to the punch with this screed.

Here’s just a sample:

Well, the science is clear. This month, a study published in the journal Nature by a renowned MIT climatologist linked the increasing prevalence of destructive hurricanes to human-induced global warming.

Now we are all learning what it’s like to reap the whirlwind of fossil fuel dependence which Barbour and his cronies have encouraged. Our destructive addiction has given us a catastrophic war in the Middle East and–now–Katrina is giving our nation a glimpse of the climate chaos we are bequeathing our children.

If that got your dander up, read the entire piece.

Though it pains me greatly to create this link, The Daily Kos, in a sad, sad attempt at hiding behind compassion, also seeks to score cheap political points.

Enough. We’ve the dead, dying, and displaced to deal with. Tens of thousands of lives have been changed forever. Now is not the time to score cheap political points.

What’s so ‘loony left’ about the above post? He could be a Republican, as am I. Why are you turning it into partisan politics?

Only an idiot could have ignored that issue this long and now is a very good time to mention it. If we don’t mention it now, then when do we? How many *millions* are going to die in the future?

A few short years ago, the US insurance industry predicted that global warming would bankrupt not just them, but America entirely.

This is nothing. Global warming weather will have the power of nuclear weapons and it will never end. The sooner we deal with it, the better. That was a smart post.

Guy, You’re 100% right! That anyone would “blame” this catastrophic tragedy on someone in the interest of advancing political agendas is inconceivable. Mile High Rev

    Natasha,
Reasonable people can disagree on global warming. It was not my intention to debate the existence of global warming. There are large volumes of thought by respected scientists that argue against it. However, my point was that this is not the time or place to be trying to score cheap political points and to further one’s own political agenda. There are literally tens of thousands of lives hanging in the balance. I would just as quickly condemn those on the far right that posit that the hurricane was God’s judgment against an “evil” city.
