A Word Or Two Or Three Or…

Well, they say that when you’re stumped and have nothing to write about…write about not having anything to write about. I’m not quite to that point yet; but, I’m gettin’ close. So, on that note, I’ll maybe have just a word or two to say about things.

The world, in all it’s glory, seems about ready to come down about our ears. The Middle East, as usual, is a powder keg just waiting for the wrong nation to say or do the wrong thing. The Baker-Hamilton ISG spent millions of dollars and probably millions of man hours coming up with a report that gets us no closer to victory in Iraq than we were three months ago. As a matter of fact, if we were to follow the suggestions laid out in the report, history would look upon our actions as one of the great foreign policy blunders of all time.

According to Newt Gingrich:

And we gained a report that, if followed, will lead to American surrender in the emerging Third World War. Its lack of courage and its abandonment of principle must be rejected if America wants to defeat the forces of militant Islam the way we defeated the forces of Soviet communism.

Whew! No joy there at all.

Things here in the good old US of A are not a whole lot better. Six Muslim clerics, returning from a get-together in Minneapolis, decided that it would be great fun to, you know, just pretend that they were horribly offended by being pulled from their return flight to Phoenix for acting strangely. They couldn’t understand why folks might be a bit concerned when they asked for seat belt extenders and then didn’t use them. And, can you believe this, they were truly miffed when their fellow passengers thought it seemed it a bit odd that they would hold a prayer meetin’ right there in the lobby of the airport and ‘holler’ the name of Allah over and over again. Folks, we have freedom of religion in this great nation where we live; but don’t you think that’s carrying things a bit too far? I don’t ever recall Billy Graham holding an unannounced revival right smack dab in the middle of an airport. And, to top everything off…it seems as if their attorneys had prior knowledge of all the upcomong shenanigans because they, along with their clients appeared all shaved and coiffed at a news conference bright and early next morning. Oh, the injustice of it all!
