Beginnings of Sharia Law?

It looks as Minneapolis is having it’s share of problems with Muslim cab drivers. In what looks to me like a back door attempt to practice and enact Sharia law, the Muslim cab drivers of Minneapolis are refusing to transport anyone carrying alcohol or having a service dog with them. CQ has been following this and gives a good round up of all the goin’s on. Take a real good look at this piece and let’s try to follow what happens. On the outside, it looks like just another example of immigrants refusing to assimilate into our culture. However, it may have longer lasting, long term implications for our society and how we deal with the Muslim culture.

It’s just another form of jihad! Now if it were the other way around, for example, if customers of the taxis decided to shun the muslim cabbies, strictly because they were muslims then the ACLU and CAIR would be all over it claiming Islamaphobia! Instead, the veneer of “religious rights” is being used to manipulate our society and the likes of institutions like CAIR and ACLU will help support their goals. America needs to wake up to the movement that is taking place…because there are many types of jihad on America’s homeland. Islam is just a political movement disguised and protected under the name of religion. It’s goal is to dominate and make all non muslims bow down to Allah and it will continue until the people of America stop allowing it’s bullying!
January 8, 2007 - 2:51 pmI don’t know why they become cab drivers if they can’t take certain fares. Time to send a message that if their religion restricts them from doing their job, get a new job.
January 9, 2007 - 2:49 pmI think the airport has been pretty good on this one, so far they haven’t caved.
January 11, 2007 - 3:19 pmI am not sure that immigrants need to be assimilated into our society. However, they need to obey our laws.

Thanks for the comment. I have no problem with immigrants being assimilated into our society. Afterall, that’s how our nation has been built. However, like you, I insist that they be legal and make every attempt at speaking our language.
January 14, 2007 - 10:30 amFrom where I see it, they just are just repsecting their own beliefs. It’s their right and choice to not participate in the process of people getting drunk. People however should respect that instead of dissing. People who aren’t muslims can do the same and you won’t judge them this way. Sheesh some people has no respect for people’s ideals.

You are correct. We should respect other’s beliefs. However, that is not the issue. The problem is that cab drivers are issued permits by the city and the airport authority. One of the requirements of that permit is that the drivers must serve all customers. Even those with dogs and liquor bottles. It’s not an issue of disrespecting other’s beliefs. It’s a matter of obeying the tenants of a contract. If Muslim cab drivers don’t want to service those people that they disagree with, they should find another source of employment.
Should I be forced to rent my home to two homosexuals if I feel that what they are doing is immoral? Personally, I don’t think that I should. However, whether I agree with this or not, I am required by law to rent to them. So, you see, it works both ways.
