Commentary Appropriate For Today’s Changing World

Over The Top

This is why proponents of far left ideas don’t get anywhere. I can’t really believe that an advocacy group could actually be serious about this bill. Certainly they don’t believe this has a snowball’s chance of passing. Looks to me like it’s an over-the-top effort to call attention to homosexual marriage. It most certainly is a turn off for the average citizen. At least me, anyway.

Somebody ’splain this. Please.

UPDATE: The Seattle Times has interviewed members of the gay community; and the folks they spoke with have a completely different take on the matter.

Longtime gay-rights activist Bill Dubay said that while he gets the point of the initiative, it is unlikely he’d sign it.

“I don’t think anybody in the gay community wants to take someone else’s rights away,” he said. “We just want to gain the rights that everybody else has.”

The gay-rights organization Equal Rights Washington also won’t endorse it, pointing out that families come in all forms, some of which don’t include children. State laws, it said, should help — not hurt — families.

OMG, I’m so angry reading this I can barely breathe. OK, I know it will never pass - but the fact that some nut job asshat thinks it MERITS a review, well, I’m spewing. For good reason. My husband and I are both unable to have children - so by this measure neither of us would have ever been allowed to marry. We’ve been married for nearly 25 years and have one of the best relationships of any married couple we know. Together we are a caring, compassionate, loving twosome - we’ve helped many people as a couple and I can’t imagine how the lives of our family and friends would be today if we hadn’t married.

Jesus, this really pisses me off!

Yep…Kinda tough to stomach stuff like this. The thing that bothers me is that the idiots that are proposing this know that there is not a snowball’s chance in hell of this going anywhere. It’s just a blatant attempt to get their sick perverted agenda out in front of the general public. The idea is to ask for a whole lot more than you want, then settle for less…which is what you wanted all along.
