Congressional Cowardice

Well, what to say? It’s been a week since my last post and lest folks think I’ve deserted this realm, I suppose a word or two is in order. Both the Congress and the Senate have managed to make complete fools of themselves by doing their best impression of cowardice in full bloom. Fortunately, the Senate Republicans were able to scrape together enough votes to invoke cloture, thereby preventing debate by the full Senate on the non-binding resolution that was before it. I suppose the bad news is that this now opens the door for debate on war funding. The house Republicans though, weren’t as successful in their battle against Democrats. Thanks to seven white flag Republicans, the Democrat’s non-binding resolution passed; expressing their sense that President Bush’s “surge” should not take place.

In all likelihood, we’ll never be able to objectively measure the impact of their actions. However, without a doubt, our power hungry leaders have given the enemy a good close look at our playbook. That’s right. Why don’t we just reveal to the opposition, our future intentions. Then, all Haji has to do is sit back, bide his time, and prepare to make his move when time is right. Wiser men, with far superior abilities to express themselves than I, have already given the Congressional cowards their just due. So, I’ll just add one more word of editorial opinion…disgusting.
