Veto Time

Well, it’s time to ink up the veto pen. It looks as if the Dems, while ignoring the terrible consequences passed the emergency funding bill. That in its self is a great thing. Unfortunately, there is a withdrawal timetable, which would mandate an early withdrawal from Iraq, attached to the bill. The end result would be to telegraph our moves to the insurgents; thus, allowing them just to sit tight until we leave. Chuck Hagel, long time thorn in the side of Republicans, crossed the aisle and voted with the Democrats. His vote enabled passage of the bill.

The truly tragic thing about this whole affair is the bill was passed, not because of a belief in its correctness on the Democrats part, but because of rampant greed, a desire to destroy anything having to do with President Bush, and an unbridled quest for power.

Fortunately, President Bush has vowed to veto the bill.

UPDATE and CORRECTION 3/28/07:

We mistakenly reported yesterday’s vote as a vote for the passage of the emergency spending bill. However, it should be more correctly reported as being a vote on a Republican amendment that would have struck a troop withdrawal plan from emergency military funding legislation.
