British Hostages

Well, it looks like the Brits have got the goods on Iran. Earlier today, information was released that detailed the British sailors location when they were kidnapped by elements of the Iranian Navy.
The real question is: What’s next? Tony Blair ventured that it was time to ratchet up diplomatic activity. Hardly words to strike fear into the hearts of the Iranians. In our estimation, a timeline for release should be jointly set by the Brits and other coalition forces (read:US). Attach consequences for failure to meet the deadline. These can, and should range all the way from limited airstrikes to sending in special operations units to rescue the sailors.
What do you think?

I know that Britain has asked the U.S. to stay out of it for now; they don’t want it becoming a US vs. Iran thing, which it would no matter what the reason.
Britain needs to ratchet up the truth or consequences stuff - return our people immediately or face the blunt end of the spear, the kind that will hurt more.
March 28, 2007 - 12:58 pmAs a Brit, I wholeheartedly disagree with the US getting involved and threatening military action all over the place. It’s time to learn that force doesn’t solve everything. We’ll solve this with diplomacy and within international law.
March 28, 2007 - 3:43 pmHannah,
I certainly hope that you’re correct. No one likes to see loss of life. However, the history of the Iranian Muhllahcracy being what it is, I hold out very little hope for a peaceful resolution to the problem.
March 28, 2007 - 4:01 pmI agree Hannah, the US should stay out of it, and let the Britons deal with the beheadings or a year or so of “negotiations”. Don’t worry though, the US will be right there to say “TOLD YOU SO!”.
