Catching Up Vs. 2.1

WAKE……. UP! Huh? Oh, er, I, uh…. you mean me? Well no excuses. Just plain lazy. Well, not exactly.

Since I last proffered an excuse for not writing, I got laid off due to lack of work. This wasn’t a complete surprise; but, one is never quite ready for a life changing experience like loosing a job in a field that you’ve worked in for twenty years. Fortunately, or unfortunately, as the case may be, I can take early retirement if I choose to do so and become a man of leisure and sell home made burritos at job sites around town to supplement a meager social security check. HA! That was written in jest…kinda. Seriously though, to loose your job at age 62 is a serious matter. So, I’d appreciate your prayers for a speedy resolution to this problem.

Well, it looks like GWB has thrown sand in the face of his base. In a speech at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, President Bush criticized those in the Republican party that have disagreed with his immigration policies. Hmmm…perhaps criticize is not a strong enough term. Let’s try “leveled a laser-like blast”. This, my friends, is a pretty bold move for someone whose approval ratings have not been out of the twenty and thirty percent range in months. Can you say death knell for the Republican party? I can. I won’t get into a discussion of the details of the bill; but suffice it to say that the devil is in the details. It is impossible to forcibly inject up to forty million people (potentially) into a society without completely changing the face of that society. That, my friends, is what we’re looking at. Hopefully there are enough level headed leaders in the Republican party to put a end to this folly. We’ll see. We still have about three weeks before all of this comes to a head.
