Commentary Appropriate For Today’s Changing World

Request Time

My son Jim at Thinking Right, inspired by Matt at Black Five, has begun a project to put a letter from home into the hands of every Marine in 1st Battallion, 1st Regiment, 1st Division US Marines. What I’m asking is, that those of you who are inspired to participate, please write a short, encouraging letter addressed to the following:

letters@thinking-right.com

Jim will sort thru them, make sure that only encouraging letters are sent, print them out, and then forward them to his contact at the 1st MarDiv. His goal is 1000. This will put one letter into the hands of every marine and sailor in the battalion.

As you may have heard, many of our fighting men and women do not hear a lot of support coming from the general populace. These letters will serve as a reminder to those on the “pointy end of the spear” that they are supported and prayed for by the folks at home.

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a great idea! I’ve sent one already- they deserve more than just a note.

I was wondering, if I could post that address to my blog, called Tired of all the Liberal Rhetoric out there….. I have fought and supported our troops since day one, and think it is a shame that they (the Liberals and the government) are doing the same thing that they did to our troops in Vietnam, the only war we ever lost. We lost it because of the Liberals and their machine to discredit the troops and their war.

If you say it is okay to do, I will post a post about it, giving you credit for this. I do not have your address, as I came across your site from BlogExplosion. So if it is okay, send your address too.

    Thank you and God Bless…

We accompany our notes with a flat-shipping box full of goodies for the troops. We don’t know any personally, but names & APOs are available via the Any Soldier website.

We don’t expect replies (they’re busy!), but have, nonetheless, received some heartwarming letters thanking us for caring enough to send them a taste of home.

Can you believe it? They’re thanking us! What a bunch of fine Americans!

Good idea…but more than support, our troops would just like to come home in one piece and get on with their lives. I would suggest that if anybody would like, go to a VA hospital and spend some time with a few that have come home. They really could use the support as well as the company.

I don’t agree with the war, but I do agree with this, and think that’s a really nice idea. Soldiers are people too, and those of us on the ‘left’ of this one can sometimes conveniently forget that when we get our panties in a bunch about it. Nice idea.
